Led by the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC), in collaboration with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Summit will build on Switzerland's commitment to inclusive and multistakeholder AI governance.
The Geneva AI Summit 2027 unites two strategic priorities: AI as a driver of prosperity and progress for all and fostering trustworthy, responsible and safe use of AI.
Innovation and trust reinforce each other, responsible AI requires transparency and broad accessibility. Together, these priorities position Switzerland as both a global AI leader and a constructive bridge-builder in shaping AI's future.
From Bletchley Park (2023) to New Delhi (2026), the AI Summits have gradually broadened the debate -- covering security, action and impact -- towards inclusive global governance. Geneva, a hub of multilateralism and home to the ITU, will take over in 2027 to ensure this dialogue is sustained over the long term.
The Road to Geneva invites organisations and institutions from around the world to organise independent pre-events to enrich the global dialogue ahead of the Summit. The events will be published on the website.

A Call for Issues will be launched in the autumn, inviting stakeholders to share their views on key themes relating to the global governance of AI ahead of the 2027 Geneva AI Summit.
Independent Side Events will accompany the Summit to broaden participation and amplify diverse voices. The call for proposals will be launched in early 2027.

The Geneva AI Summit 2027 will be held from 21-22 June 2027 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. The Summit will happen back-to-back with the ITU's AI for Good Global Summit.
The Summit will be organised by the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC), in collaboration with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
The Geneva Summit will be an inclusive Summit, ensuring participation across governments, academia, the private sector and civil society. Given the nature of the event, attendance will be carefully curated to ensure a focused and high-impact gathering.
The exact modalities for participation are currently being finalized and will be communicated in late 2026. Please note that capacity at the core Summit venue will be limited, and places will be allocated accordingly.

Regarding thematic contributions, consultation processes and targeted engagement opportunities are beginning to be put in place.
Looking ahead, the official launch of a call for issues is planned for autumn 2026.
Response times may vary depending on the nature and volume of requests received. Given the strong interest in the Summit and the need to coordinate closely across multiple partners and stakeholders, some delays will occur.

The Swiss Confederation will contribute to more than half of the overall financing. The remaining funds are raised through sponsorship revenue. To date, various sponsors from the private sector, civil society, academia, and public administration have pledged additional funding.
